Experimental literature, art, and media play with structures such as form, language, and syntax—breaking the conventional narrative of storytelling and challenging the expectations of the audience. We are looking for submissions that are quirky, experimental, and surreal, but not specifically for one medium. See our HOME PAGE for greater specifics about what experimentalism is.
Submissions will open around the start of each semester. Those who submit will be emailed with information on acceptance, resubmission, or rejection. There is no limit on number of submissions. Each submission must be sent through the Google form individually. Please email The Underground should you have questions regarding the submission rules and guidelines.
General Guidelines:
- No email submissions will be accepted. Please submit each piece in a separate file through the form that is provided.
- Remove all identifying information on the submitted document(s) so we can adhere to anonymity.
- Include a brief contributor's note written in the third person.
Disclaimer: AI will not be tolerated in written works. However, for visual and interactive works it may be used as a tool or motif in your work. All AI use must be declared and explained in the submission form. All works should be original and unpublished. By submitting, you pledge you have all rights to all elements of your work. The Underground does not accept previously submitted material.
